Collaboration, data and e-learning tools get FedRAMP approval

The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program's marketplace of approved cloud services continues to grow.

Accellion announced on June 12 that its "kiteworks" secure content collaboration platform has received FedRAMP authorities to operate from both the Department of Energy and the Department of Interior.  That ATO brings the number of FedRAMP-authorized cloud services to 82, with another seven deemed FedRAMP-ready.

The Accellion news comes just days after Socrata's government data platform secured a FedRAMP ATO sponsored by the Federal Communications Commission. “The ability to use secure, effective cloud technology quickly is key to moving federal agencies to the cloud," FCC Senior Adviser Tony Summerlin said, and the FedRAMP approval means the agency can now migrate more-sensitive data into the cloud-based service.

Additionally, the e-learning firm Skillsoft announced on May 30 that its service also is FedRAMP-approved, with an ATO from the Environmental Protection Agency.
